God's Standard for Goodness

Most people probably believe they are good enough to enter heaven. If you ask them why they believe they are good, they might say something like this: "I never murdered anyone, never committed adultery and I never robbed a bank." Let's find out if you are a good enough person to enter heaven.

The Ten Commandments is God's standard for goodness. Let's see if you are good enough to go to heaven. I'll mention five commandments here. Ever steal anything? Doesn't matter how small or large. Ever lie to anyone? Ever hate anyone? Jesus said hate is like murder. Ever look at anyone with lust? Lust in your heart is considered by God to be adultery. Ever disobey your parents? If you said yes to any of those things, then you broke at least one of God's commandments and your name will not be listed in the book of life, therefore you must one day stand before God and receive your punishment for sin, the lake of fire.

"And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire" (Revelation 20:15).

Why did God give us the Ten Commandments if we couldn't keep them? He gave us the Ten Commandments to give us a guideline for living a holy life and to prove to us that because of are fallen sinful nature, it is impossible for us to keep the Ten Commandments unless we receive a radical holy transformation. Romans 3:23 declares we're all sinners. We are born sinners, incapable of obeying His law of commandments, therefore we need a savior to deliver us from our sinful nature and God's wrath so we can walk in righteousness, obey the Ten Commandments and be qualified to spend eternity in heaven. It is through Christ we receive a radical holy transformation, enabling us to keep God's holy commandments.

So God in His mercy has provided you an escape from eternal damnation through the work of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ paid the price for your sins to be forgiven. He died on the cross and was raised from the dead. To be saved from God's eternal punishment, to receive a new nature capable of obeying God's laws and to receive a glorious inheritance only found in Christ, pray the following prayer with sincerity:

Heavenly Father, I admit I am a sinner and need forgiveness. I believe Jesus Christ died on the cross, was buried and was resurrected on the third day. With your help I turn from all sin and now invite Jesus Christ into my heart. Help me to daily read and obey your Word as I follow Jesus Christ, the Lord of my life. Thank you Lord for my salvation.

If you prayed that prayer and were sincere then you are saved and your name is in the Book of Life.

Scriptures to Give You the Assurance of Your Salvation

Romans 10:13 - For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Ephesians 2:8-9 - For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 10:9-10 - That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

1 John 5:11-13 - And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Warning

It is true, God is love, but He is also just and must punish sin. If you do sin, He promises in 1 John 1:9 to forgive you your sins if you ask Him. But if you refuse to obey and serve God and instead fulfill the works of the flesh, refuse to forgive others, lie and refuse to repent of your sins, your name will be blotted out of the book of life and you will spend eternity separated from God and be tormented in the lake of fire. Revelation 20:15 below shows you what will happen to you if you refuse to stop living an unholy lifestyle and you refuse to obey God.

"And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire" (Revelation 20:15).

"Be ye holy; for I am holy" (1 Peter 1:16).

Want Mountain Moving Faith?

The Lord gave the following words to a Christian to speak out loud. The Lord encouraged the Christian to declare these words often until they became a reality in his heart. And of course the more time you spend declaring these powerful words, the quicker the results.

"There is no lack of faith with me. If I were to come to the end of my faith, then the Father gives me the very faith of Christ and it is impossible for me not to believe."
